Program Overview

OneAZ will award 21 scholarships to U.S. citizens who are Arizona residents and enrolled full-time during the 2016-2017 academic year.

  • Twenty (20) scholarships, valued at $1,000 each
  • One (1) Quentin Bogart Scholarship, valued at $4,000 for a student pursuing a degree in education through the Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College at ASU 

Scholarship Eligibility Criteria 

Applicants must meet the following criteria in order to be eligible for a OneAZ scholarship:

  • Be a U.S. citizen and Arizona resident enrolled full-time during the 2016-2017 academic year in an undergraduate program either as an incoming Junior or Senior at an accredited Arizona college, university or vocational school, or an incoming Sophomore enrolled full-time in a two-year program
  • Must have a 2.5 cumulative GPA or higher
  • Be a OneAZ Credit Union member with an account in good standing** or a child, step-child, or grand-child of a OneAZ Credit Union member with an account in good standing.
  • Students enrolled in a graduate program are not eligible for a scholarship
  • Finalists must provide proof of enrollment during the 2016-2017 academic year   (per “Agreement to Rules”), OneAZ Credit Union account number and proof of U.S. citizenship prior to disbursement of scholarship funds via direct deposit in their OneAZ Credit Union account
  • Unverifiable materials, incorrect/misleading information or materials not submitted by the September 23, 2016 deadline will eliminate the finalist from receiving the scholarship
  • Officials and associates of OneAZ Credit Union and their immediate families (parents, children, siblings, and spouses) are not eligible to receive a scholarship. 
  • Prior scholarship recipients are eligible to submit an application during the 2016 Scholarship Program.
  • Scholarships are not based on financial need.

Quentin Bogart Scholarship Eligibility Criteria

  • Be a U.S. citizen and Arizona resident enrolled in an undergraduate program as an incoming Junior or Senior at the Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College at Arizona State University during the 2016-2017 academic year
  • Have a 2.5 cumulative GPA or higher
  • Be a OneAZ Credit Union member with an account in good standing or a child, step-child, or grand-child of a OneAZ Credit Union member with an account in good standing.
  • Students enrolled in a graduate program are not eligible for a scholarship
  • Finalists must provide proof of enrollment during the 2016-2017 academic year   (per “Agreement to Rules”), OneAZ Credit Union account number and proof of U.S. citizenship prior to disbursement of scholarship funds via direct deposit in their OneAZ Credit Union account

Application and Recipient Award Process

August 31, 2016 at 5:00 p.m. Arizona time: Applications close. 

Applications submitted after this time will not be accepted.

September 1 - September 8, 2016: Finalists are randomly selected

OneAZ Scholarship - Eligible applications will be grouped and entered in a random drawing, per branch, for a total of 20 drawings resulting in 20 finalists. 
Quentin Bogart Scholarship - Eligible applications will be entered into one (1) drawing resulting in one (1) Quentin Bogart Finalist.

September 9, 2016: Finalists are notified and given list of eligibility confirmation requirements

On September 9, 2016 finalists will receive an email with a list of documents needed to confirm eligibility. All documents must be submitted by September 23, 2016 in order for the finalist to become a recipient. 
Return of notification sent to a Finalist via an “undeliverable” email address may result in disqualification and the selection of an alternate Finalist.

September 23, 2016: All Finalist eligibility confirmation material is due

Failure to provide all documents by September 23, 2016 will result in disqualification and the selection of an alternate finalist. 

October 17, 2016: Recipients are notified

Finalists have confirmed eligibility and will become the 2016 Scholarship recipients. 

October 17 - October 31, 2016: Recipient photo sessions

A photo is required to be taken with a local branch manager at the nearest branch location prior to funds being deposited.  Photos may or may not be used for media relation purposes.

November 1, 2016: Scholarships recipients are publicly announced

All recipients will be listed on this page. 

November, 2016: Scholarship awards deposited

Recipients will receive their scholarship via direct deposit into the OneAZ Credit Union account provided during the verification process.



How to Apply

The 2016 OneAZ Credit Union and OneAZ Community Foundation scholarship application process has closed. Please check back November 1, 2016 for a list of recipients. 

*All application questions are required for a complete application.

** An account is considered to be in good standing if the following conditions are met: The $5.00 share must be in the membership account. The Member must be current or within their grace period with any loan obligations to the Credit Union. The Member’s checking account must have a positive available balance or, if negative, must be within their Courtesy Pay limit for less than 10 days.
