Credit Union's efforts to assist community members receives national recognition

PHOENIX, Ariz. – Arizona State Credit Union was honored to receive a Communitas Award for its outstanding efforts to make a difference in Arizona communities.

The Credit Union was awarded Excellence in Community Service for its efforts during the Yarnell Hill Fire that impacted the Prescott community in 2013. The Credit Union held a donation drive to benefit the families of the fallen Granite Mountain Hotshots, seven of whom were Credit Union members. The grand total collected during the month-long donation drive totaled $186,488.88, including a $20,000 matched contribution from the Credit Union. The Credit Union also provided emergency loan assistance services to members impacted by the fire, including the option to skip a payment on any loans without penalty and the ability to withdraw on share certificates with no early withdrawal fees.

“As a state financial cooperative, Arizona State Credit Union strives to support community members in their time of need,” said David E. Doss, President/CEO of Arizona State Credit Union. “We feel it is our responsibility to ensure we meet the needs of our members in a fiscally sound manner, and we are humbled to receive this recognition from Communitas. We appreciate the efforts of our associates and community members who contributed their time and funds to aid those impacted during this difficult time.”

The Communitas Awards are presented by the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals (AMCP) in order to recognize companies, organizations or individuals that donate time, effort or money to improve the communities in which they live or work.
