Arizona State Credit Union Recycles More Than 24 Tons of Documents

Shred-a-Thon events help Arizonans safeguard their personal information, protect against identity theft

PHOENIX, Ariz. – Arizona State Credit Union’s eight shred events resulted in recycling 48,193 pounds of paper, which is 300 pounds more than 2012’s Shred-a-Thon. This sizable contribution equates to saving 301 trees.

Residents of northern Arizona communities were encouraged to shred their sensitive information during these free events. Attendees could bring up to five boxes of documents to their local branch to be shredded on site.

To support continuing community outreach programs, the Credit Union sponsored these events throughout the year to raise awareness of the importance of securing personal information to protect against identity theft.

“We are committed to providing community members with opportunities to protect themselves from dangerous financial schemes,” said David E. Doss, President/CEO of Arizona State Credit Union. “This is our fourth year sponsoring the Shred-a-Thon, and it is great to see our members continuing to respond to these events and bring documents to shred.”

The Shred-a-Thon kicked off in March at the Credit Union’s Prescott Valley branch and concluded in October at its Cottonwood branch.
