A longtime supporter of Safe House through both personal and bank contributions, Gale was deeply committed to strengthening the Yuma community. The grant will support the shelter's mission while recognizing his lasting impact on Safe House and the broader nonprofit community through the naming of the shelter's indoor playroom in his honor.
"Wayne Gale was a passionate advocate for Yuma and a steadfast supporter of organizations working to strengthen our community," said Ricardo Perez, SVP Market President of OneAZ’s Western Region serving Yuma and San Luis. "Naming the Safe House playroom in his honor is a fitting tribute to his legacy of service and compassion. We are proud to support Safe House's important work and help ensure individuals and families have access to the resources and care they deserve."
"At OneAZ, we believe strong communities are built through meaningful partnerships and investments in organizations that provide critical support to those who need it most," said Robert Raygoza, Executive Director of the OneAZ Community Foundation. "Safe House has been a vital resource for Yuma families for decades, and we are honored to celebrate Wayne Gale's legacy through this grant. This investment reflects our commitment to improving the lives of Arizonans and supporting organizations that create lasting, positive change in our communities."
“The Wayne Gale Legacy Family Playroom is more than a contribution; it is a gift of healing, hope, and childhood. This space will provide children in our shelter with a safe environment to play, learn, and begin their journey toward recovery from domestic violence,” says Jodie Wight, Regional Program Director of Domestic Violence Programs.
The $20,000 Legacy Grant will support Safe House’s work providing shelter, advocacy, and resources for survivors of domestic violence in Yuma County. As the county’s only domestic violence shelter, Safe House helps individuals and families find safety and healing.
To honor Wayne Gale’s lasting impact on the community, Safe House will dedicate its indoor playroom in his name. OneAZ, Safe House staff, and members of the Gale family will commemorate the grant and Wayne’s legacy during a private ribbon-cutting ceremony.
